Lindesfarne Castle, set on a mound on the tidal Holy island, truly the magic of imagination and fantasy, it bijou and beautiful and I could picture myself making it a home. From tiny hidden staircases to wide, bright corridors you really don’t know what will be around the next corner. The weather vane/ Wind indicator map painting was my personal favourite, I could look at that for many hours!
As with St Michael’s mount, there’s a sense of adventure heading on to Lindisfarne, go equipped with your timetable! It’s a little different driving over then wading impatiently across the ebbing tide in Cornwall but nevertheless the sense of a world opening up to you for just a short time is poignant.
Under the castle is a maze of lime kilns, easily missed if you don’t wander far…
There is also a Gertrude Jekyll garden but I’ll save those pictures for another day…

Loved the photo of the music room.

Thanks, they had music playing in there, it had ambiance but was also rather chilly, my daughter and I were both a little discomforted, neither of us wished to loiter in that space if you catch my meaning…
